New Year's Resolutions: 2016

At the end of 2014 I made one New Year's Resolution - to be a good cacti mom and keep all 3 of my babies alive until 2015. I succeeded. You might think that's an easy task but I am a renowned (accidental) cacti killer. But succeeding at one small thing has given me the confidence to make more small resolutions for 2016, which I will also hopefully be able to stick to!

1. BLOG MORE - I want to try and post on this blog at least once a week. I LOVE blogging and I always have a lot I'd like to share but I get very caught up in thinking that everything I post has to be perfect. Then before I know it, it's been 3 months and I've posted nothing. Oops.

2. BE MESSIER - Probably a bit of a weird resolution to most people but I really want to try and be more free this year, both in terms of my style of working and style of living. I always have to have things "just so" but again, as stated above, it holds me back a lot from doing the things I want to do (or should be doing) and so I'm going to try and loosen up a bit! (My first act of being messier was to draw the above image using just the trackpad on my macbook. Not what I'd consider "expressive" but it's a baby step in the right direction!)

3. CACTI STATUS: ALIVE - I want to continue being a good cacti parent and let my babies see 2017! It will also be a good thing to put on my CV. (And good practice for if I ever have a baby, right?)

4. SAY YES - Nicked this one from Zoella but I really need to start embracing all the wonderful opportunities that are being thrown at me recently and stop being such a scaredy pants!

5. TAKE MORE PHOTOS - I was sorting through storage boxes a few days ago and came across lots of photos I've taken on disposable cameras over the last few years and it's made me really want more physical copies of my memories! I'm constantly taking photographs of what I'm up to and I upload onto instagram most days but it's not the same as holding an actual photo album, full of REAL photos, without all the pretty filters. So I'm going to buy some disposable cameras and get snapping!

Hope you all had wonderful New Year's Eve celebrations and best wishes for 2016!
Have you made any resolutions? I'd love to know what they are!
Love, Hails.

  8. These are all awesome resolutions! I'm a big fan of the little goals rather than giant life changing things which will last 5 minutes. I also have been trying the whole Say Yes thing a bit more and definitely enjoying it so far! x
