La Bottega Milanese 'By Night'

Joe and I recently attended an evening of Italian yummies, summery cocktails and deliciously smooth coffee at one of my favourite independent coffee shops in Leeds - La Bottega Milanese - in celebration of their new extended opening times. I've written about La Bottega before, listing it in my Leeds: A Tour Of Good Coffee post (still one of my favourite and most popular blog posts I've ever written) and so I was keen to join in the celebrations and report back to you guys!

One of the things I love about La Bottega Milanese is that it's always trying something new and exciting. As well as opening their doors until 9pm on a Friday evening, which is an exciting prospect for any late night coffee drinkers like me, they have also extended their menu to include a range of cocktails and beers for those who like something a little stronger on a Friday evening. Braving the English Summer and sitting outside, we indulged in some delicious Aperol Spritz cocktails, which consist of a mixture of Prosecco and Aperol (which has a gorgeous dry, bitter orange taste and is responsible for the amazing summery orange colour that I love) with a dash of soda water. I'd never tried Aperol before and didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did - it's definitely a cocktail to watch out for!

I obviously couldn't leave without having a flat white - my new favourite order since I ditched the vanilla latte - and these definitely didn't disappoint. And the cute latte art is an added Instagram-Friendly bonus! I'd love to see more independent coffee places in Leeds following suit and taking the initiative to open later - I've been talking about how good a 24/7 coffee hangout would be for students since I started university - but it's great to see independent businesses flourishing and getting people involved nonetheless. It's nothing short of a miracle that I felt comfortable and confident enough to sit around for a few hours and chat to new people but it's testament to what a friendly and relaxed vibe La Bottega and its staff give. Maybe now I'll be more inclined to spend my Friday evenings (and soon to be Saturday evenings too!) socialising...

(Aside from my shameless happy and slightly tipsy selfie, all of these photos were taken with Joe's new 50mm lens and I'm loving how effortlessly it gives that gorgeous ~Typical Blogger Blur~ in the background!)
